Spirit (1995)
February opened her eyes
and light was gone from yours
You did your best to outrun time
We never said enough
before you closed the circle
and only now our poems rhyme
and tho' it's true
I can't hold your spirit
content I am that it has flown
over red cliffs
over the harbour to home
you'll wait for me, and then
in the gulls cry
here in Spring's stirring sigh
I will find you again....
Auchmithie's just as she was
It could be that same day
we celebrated life's long poem
I search in vain for a sail
horizon to the shore
maybe you took the last one home
